About Me

As a  wife,  mother of three, and grandmother of three who experienced a very difficult transition into empty nest living, I value what other empty nesters are experiencing. I understand firsthand the trials, triumphs, heartache, and joys of empty nest living and want to provide a safe place where you will find relatable empty-nest testimonies as well as insight, encouragement, and support.  Categories include hobbies, travel, grand kids, traditions, and inspirational quotes and memes. I will write honest, fun, raw,  copy intended for the fifty-something (or younger if the case may be!) empty nester or soon-to-be empty nester.

I love to write! Though informally, I have been writing for years. I have had a dream of starting a blog about empty nest living years before my roost became bare. I even came up with the name, “Chapter Three” before I knew anything about blogging.  Why “Chapter Three?” Because I consider this phase of my life as the Third Chapter, with the First being my youth and young adulthood, and the Second being marriage and child rearing. I look forward to continuing to develop my writing and blogging skills as this multi-faceted journey unfolds in fresh, creative, impassioned copy while we uncover together the hidden gem of the empty nest.

I’m a girl born and raised in the gorgeous state of Colorado (though I spent about a third of my life in southern California), and I thoroughly embrace the Rocky Mountain lifestyle enjoying horseback riding, hiking, camping, and all that the fresh outdoors have to offer.

From what I can gather California and New South Wales, Australia have a lot in common. There is the weather and general lifestyle including the wine. Years ago I remember reading about our Lifesavers visiting your Lifesavers during your summer and visa versa. Right now it is beach weather in New South Wales. We have had plenty of rain of late but that is a lot better than the horrific bush fires we had in January around this time last year. Unfortunately bush fire are also what NSW has in common with California. As for the fresh outdoors, we have possibly the world’s best beaches in NSW and, from a birding point of view, some unique wildlife. There are Black Cockatoos about on the south coast of NSW right now plus Little Corellas. Recently I visited a locale where Little Terns were nesting.

Yes, I remember those awful bush fires!! It was so sad watching it all unfold on television and feeling so helpless. It’s so interesting that you are experiencing summer now. Christmas in summer! We’ve just had four inches of snow here in Colorado. Thank you so much for your interesting comment and taking the time to read my blog!
